Her campy, childlike Halloween costume selection ties again to her private fashion. “As a black-and-white uniform wearer, it was all the time within the playing cards to step into the function of the Cat,” says Monáe. (It’s true: She does a black-and-white outfit like no different.) “Of all of the Dr. Seuss characters, we have now probably the most in frequent—the black and white, with the pop of crimson! The mischief! The tuxedos! The handsomeness! The whiskers! We’re twins!”
To carry her theatrical imaginative and prescient to life, Monáe began brainstorming a number of years again. “The Cat jumped proper out the ebook and scratched me in 2023,” says Monáe. “I’m often two to a few years forward with costume concepts.” Given she is a bona fide professional at Halloween dressing, the star labored with a number of folks to create the one-of-a-kind look, together with her stylist, Alexandra Mandelkorn. “We labored with a number of extremely proficient artists,” says Monáe, “together with Alex Navarro on the costume, Cat + Nico on the SFX, Becca Vandervort on hair, Miles Robinson and Iggy Soliven on props, and Sarah Sokol on the hat.”
